Handmade Arcade Returns with Live Events – Summer Pop-up and Winter Marketplace

Handmade Arcade returns in hosting in person events connecting independent makers and gift seekers; Applications for the premiere Winter Marketplace are open for makers who wish be a vendor.

Pittsburgh, PA (June 22, 2021) /PressRelease.news/ – Handmade Arcade is excited to announce its return to in-person events starting with its emerging maker pop-up, Show and Sell on August 7, 2021, at Construction Junction. The organization’s flagship winter marketplace will also have an in-person component this year, returning to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from December 3-4. Maker applications for the winter market are open now through August 13, 2021. Preceding the in-person event will be a virtual 3-day marketplace hosted on HandmadeArcade.org.

“This year’s hybrid winter marketplace will have the best of both worlds!” says Handmade Arcade’s Executive Director Tricia Brancolini-Foley. “ The virtual marketplace allows customers from all over the country to shop our makers’ goods while the in-person event allows regional shoppers to meet the makers and interact with their products.”

Show and Sell

Celebrate summer with our free, in-person, pop-up market featuring over 20 talented emerging Pittsburgh makers, arts, and craftspeople! Load up on luxurious bath and body products or treat yourself to a handcrafted bag or wallet. If you’re looking for home décor our makers have you covered with delicious candles, creative ceramics, and unique artwork you won’t find at those big box stores. Come to party Handmade Arcade-style and support the artists that make Pittsburgh great.

Hosted by our friends at Construction Junction. Once you have gotten your crafty fix, take a stroll around their warehouse and support their mission of supporting and promoting conservation through the reuse of building materials. 

Did we mention there will be food trucks? Food will be available on-site from Sprezzatura and Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream Truck.

Event parking available in the lot on Meade Street behind Construction Junction. The market will follow the COVID-19 safety measures of our host – Construction Junction.

Handmade Arcade Winter Marketplace 2021

The organization’s flagship event returns with an in-person marketplace at David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh on Friday, December 3, and Saturday, December 4. An accompanying virtual marketplace will run from Friday, November 26, through Monday, November 29, allowing shoppers to celebrate this beloved holiday event in person and online. Details include:

Three Day Virtual Marketplace: Saturday, November 27 – Monday, November 29 

  • Strategically planned for Small Business Saturday through Cyber Monday, Handmade Arcade’s Virtual Marketplace will feature the same 200 makers as the in-person event the following weekend. Not ready to face the holiday crowds just yet, or want a preview of the in-person event? You will have three days to visit handmadearcade.org, shop, browse, and be inspired by Handmade Arcade’s creative maker community. The 2020 virtual marketplace had over 23,000 visits!

Two Day In-Person Marketplace: Friday, December 3 – Saturday, December 4

  • Friday Happy Hour Preview Party: 5:30 to 7 PM (Ticket event)
    Avoid the crowds and join Handmade Arcade for its third Friday Happy Hour Preview Party from 5 to 7:30 PM. This ticketed event will allow fans of handmade goods to shop before the crowds on Saturday. Have a drink, listen to great music, and shop from 200 of the region’s most talented artists! Raffles, DJs, cash bar, and more.
     
  • Saturday Early Bird Shopping Hour: 10 to 11 AM (Ticket event)
    Get ready to shop! Early Bird ticket holders will be able to enter the marketplace one hour before it opens to the general public.
     
  • Saturday Marketplace: 11 AM to 7 PM  (Free General Admission)
    Handmade Arcade is BACK! With hands-on demonstrations, DJs, raffles, and 200 of the best of the best in the region’s creative maker community, this is a cannot be missed event. Let’s get back to shopping handmade in-person for the holidays! The 2019 marketplace had over 10,000 attendees.

  • $20 fee (non-refundable)*
  • Open on Monday, June 21, 2021, and close on August 13, 2021, at 11:59 PM (EST) 
  • Late applications will not be accepted. No exceptions.
  • Application notifications will be EMAILED on Monday, September 13, 2021.
  • Makers can apply online at https://handmadearcade2021.artcall.org/

Accepted makers are required to participate in the virtual marketplace and both days of the in-person marketplace. Makers without an e-commerce site can still apply. Handmade Arcade will work with you to participate in the virtual marketplace.

*If the application fee presents a barrier to participation, makers are encouraged to email info@handmadearcade.org. Handmade Arcade is committed to making sure all makers have an opportunity to apply.
